After Herculaneum, I took a bus to the crater....well, the bus drops you off a mile away and you get to hike straight up to the rim. Worth it however. Still see steam venting from different areas in the crater.

Traveled a bit north up the coast to Herculaneum, the other city destroyed by Vesuvius in 79 AD. This is one of the best preserved buildings. Hard to imagine these Frescoes have survived after what happened to this town.

Took a two hour express train from Rome to Salerno this morning, then jumped on the regional train to Paestum, which was once a Greek colony. This temple is from 500 BC
