A lovely day in Coober Pedy today. Headed to the sign first thing for some pics and then to the big rig and the underground houses and mine. And yes I went in.....soooo proud I managed that! It still amazes me how they have managed to build all these places underground. The underground mine was impressive, although not much different. After some sightseeing at Woomera last night we got up early and left for Coober Pedy. Woomera was interesting, a town revue loving around the defence force with a population of about 120. Not much happening there now, but in the 60,s this place would have been buzzing. The rockets on display are quite confronting, and hard to believe that Australia was once a leader in nuclear research particularly from this place. A pretty straightforward drive today around...

Best start to the day ever with a beautiful bush walk. Drove out to Mount Remarkable National Park, and walked Alligator Gorge. The rocky, bushy walk was exactly what we needed before another trip in the car. Only one small mishap with Nyah slipping into some water, but managed to recover well, with only one wet foot to show for it. The kids had a ball and it was a great workout going up and down the stairs too! Headed back to camp and left with a quick stop...

Today we left Broken Hill and travelled around around 340 km to Wilmington, a tiny little town just south of Port Augusta. We camped in the bush at Stoney creek bush camping ground and it was lovely.....but cool. Basic amenities but they were nice and clean, and the bush environment and birds were lovely.
