Ozintro Day 6 - Pub Crawl!
This morning we went to Bondi junction where there is a big shopping centre. It was my first experience using the public transport in Australia and i coped fine because we had Laura with us, and she's been here a few weeks so she knew what she was doing with getting a bus. i ended up spending a fair bit of money but i bought things i need (or want!) like speakers for my mp3, a nice dress for evenings out and some sandle type shoes that i needed. We also bought plain white tshirts and pens and glitter glue to customise for the pub crawl.
After we'd been shopping we had our appointment with Dan from ozintro about our travel plans and have sorted out what I'm gonna be doing after i leave Sydney now. Me and kate have booked a couple more nights at Surfside in Coogee and then we're goin to stay at the YHA in central Sydney from weds until the weekend. On saturday night Laura is joining us and we're getting a flight to Melbourne, staying there for 3 or 4 nights, just to have a look around and then we fly to Tasmania where we have the Oz experience bus booked. the plan is to slowly travel round Tassie and look for work or WWOOFing while we're there. (WWOOFing is working on a farm where you don't get paid in money but you get free accomodation and food while you're there, and it counts towards your 3 months seasonal work to apply for a second working holiday visa). I feel a lot better and excited now that we've sorted out what we're doing and have stuff booked.
After the meeting with Dan we went back to the hostel to get ready for the night out and to customise our t-shirts, including the one we bought for Dan! The pub crawl started at the bar just up the road from the hostel (The Palace). I hadn't been there before and it's really nice. They have like 3 floors and an escalator (i've never seen an escalator in a bar before!!) and we discovered that Guy Perring (who was meant to be doing ozintro with us) was working there.
We got the bus to start the pub crawl and there wasn't room for all of us to sit down, as all four groups this week were pub crawling together. So a few of us ended up standing up in the aisle dancing, which we ended up doing every time we were on the bus and it was so much more fun than sitting down! The bar crawl was a great night, apart from the last place we went which was completely packed, so a few of us left early to go get some food (i had 2 lots of chips from Hungry Jack's aka Burger King!!) and then be in time to get the bus home at 2.30am.
