Hi everyone, this is my first chance to sit down and write something since i arrived in Sydney on the 4th, I've been so busy!
My flight was fine, just long! the worst part was the 4 and a half hour stop over in Kuala Lumpur airport, mostly because the departures part is so confusing! That and it has hardly any seats, and i was so tired when i was there that reading wasn't helping and time seemed to go so slowly. I hardly slept at all on the plane journeys. I stayed awake on the first so that i'd definitely sleep on the second, but then i didn't sleep then either. All i did was eat and drink! They kept bringing round loadsa drinks and stuff and Mum, you'll be interested to know i ate plane food (only because there was a pasta option, but still, i ended up eating the meals and all the stuff I'd taken with me).
So after having no sleep on the flights, when i arrived in Sydney i was knackered and the Sunday (4th) was the longest day ever, despite the fact we all went to bed quite early.
Ozintro Day 1 - Sydney Harbour
We met our group leader Dan at the hostel and were taken off in the Ozintro mini bus to the botanical gardens near the harbour. The first thing we did was take the obvious touristy photos in front of the opera house and bridge, and cos there were so many of us, and Dan was taking pictures with everyone's cameras, we did a different pose in each one. One of the poses was a lunge and we've now become 'Team Lunge' because of it. We then walked through the gardens to a part under some trees and fed some cockatoos. We didn't just feed them though, some of us had them on our arms! Obviously the one i had decided to flap around my head for a while first before settling on my arm (i have a pic which i will get on here as soon as i get to a better computer, although its a bit dark cos my flash didn't work).
After the birdy fun, then came the jetboating! This basically involves speeding around the harbour in a boat driven by a guy who likes spinning around! We all got COMPLETELY soaked and blinded by salt water but it was brilliant. When you could actually see, you got to see all the the harbour and for the first time it started to feel like being in Aus rather than on holiday in Tenerife. A really cool thing to do on the first day!
