Our flight out of Perth was delayed an hour. This ruined trying to land in Melbourne at the same time as my sister, Kris, flying in from Brisbane. She arrived early and had to wait around two hours.
Thursday and Friday I spent getting ready for Nancy (my cousin) and Gordon's wedding. This entailed shopping for an outfit and trips to the hairdresser (cousin Michelle) and beautician (Anya). Thursday night we went to a BBQ at Nancy and Gordon's. This was an opportunity for all the international guests to get to know each other. On Friday David had lunch with some his work colleagues and then enjoyed a couple of hours at the Motorcycle Expo.
Friday night David and I dropped into the Phelan's in order for me to pay an outstanding debt. I owed Biggy a slab of XXXX as St Kilda had beaten North Melbourne during the recent AFL season. We arrived just as the Phelan's were heading out for some trick or treating. We went along hoping to get some of the spoils.
I managed to get in some babysitting for Bren and Katie. I had the kids Saturday morning. I got to take them to Vic Cric. Don't be surprised if Billy Egan one days bowls for Victoria and Australia!!
The wedding was great. Nancy looked stunning in a white fish tail frock. Her three bridesmaids, including my cousin Kate, looked gorgeous in yellow and even Gordon, his best man and groomsman scrubbed up ok. The ceremony was at St Joseph's in Port Melbourne followed by the reception at The Pier. Food, drinks, entertainment were all great.
But wait, there were more wedding celebrations to come with a BBQ at the newlyweds on the Sunday. Again another very enjoyable day. Many with sore heads were able to reminisce on the previous nights events.
Our thanks go the Mr & Mrs Robertson and their families for a great weekend all round.
Special thanks also needs to go to our good friends Paul and Tania Hutchison who have very kindly lent us the use of their Mercedes whilst here. Hence our ability to get around to all of these activities.
Monday David had a quiet day and I got to catch up with some friends Marie and Skye and Marie's nine month old son Jackson - he's very cute.
Cup day was fairly disappointing on my part not having a collect all day! We did enjoy a quiet day down at Sean and Annabelle's in Mornington, however.
Wednesday we inspected our unit and all seems to be going well there. David and I then went our separate ways. He went home and I went into town and had lunch with a couple of gals from the APS, hung around the office during the afternoon and then headed to the Windsor Castle for dinner with Belle, Mary Jane, Cecile and Katie. It's been good to catch up with some friends.
Thursday I had lunch with Anya and then met David at the Sandringham Hotel where he was watching Oaks day. We stopped for a quick drink at Rembroza before heading home for the evening.
Friday morning Magic dropped into Mum's to say hi and then it was pretty much time to hit the road.
Our time in Melbourne was very enjoyable and we are looking forward to returning in three months.
