Dan and Claire go worldwide
Magnetic Island is a small island just off Townsville, reached by a short ferry ride. We stayed here for two nights of relaxation, as there wasnt an awful lot to do here. It was a beautiful island with dozens of beaches, and had a very quiety nature, with lots of scenic walks and trails.
We ended up hiring a little funny car, called a mini Moke, for most of our time there as getting around seemed quite difficult as everything was quite spaced out. You wait until you see the pictures!! He was a lovely bogey green colour! With his help we visited some lovely quiet beaches, including our first nudist beach in OZ! We trekked to the beach through a beautiful trail in the forest, and were greeted by some old bald guys, stark naked, quite ironic actually as the beach was actually called Balding Bay! ha ha!! They wetre all strolling merrily around the beach and bending over in the water, pushing around their boats! It was quite gross, but very funny, so after a quick dip in the sea and a look around we headed off in search of wild Koalas.
Just down the road there was an old World War 2 fort in ruins up in the hills and is now a scenic walkway, well known for its high population of Koalas living in its trees. So after searching for an hour and a half what did we find.......NOT ONE!! We were so gutted as we havent yet seen a wild koala, so we even went back early the next morning again, but we still had no luck :(
The last day we did some sea kayaking to the remote Rocky Beach, and found a couple of weirdos wandering around, so headed off from there quite quickly too! It turned out that that was also a nudist beach! It seems that everyone liked getting naked around here!
