Surfers Paradise was like an English seaside resort (think of Great Yarmoth!) but on a MUCH bigger scale!!!. Two days was enough for us. Being on the Gold Coast however, the beaches were absolutely gorgeous, stretching for miles....its a shame that the rest of the town left much to be desired! We headed to the 'Alternative' hippy town of Byron Bay for our second stop up the east coast of Australia....and we had an amazing time. The beach was beautiful, the people so friendly, a lovely relaxed, chilled out town. Needless to say we spent most of time sunbathing on the gorgeous beach and working on the tan (coming along nicely now!!). We did however pack in a few activities along the way. After a VERY long flight from Chile, we finally arrived in Australia, but not after a few hitches. The original flight was delayed from Chile by four hours, so by the time we landed in New Zealand, we had missed our connecting flight to OZ!! But have no fear, we were put up for the night in Aucklands five star Crowne Plaza hotel on the 15th floor overlooking the city, all expenses paid and a lush meal in the restaurant!
