After breakfast we walked over the River Seine to the Rue de Rivoli and wandered about for a while - Den managed to get a camera battery he had been chasing for a while!
Then we walked back to St Louis Island, which the smaller island in the Seine next to Notre Dame and found Berthillon - a famous icecream shop - where we had a sample of the creamy, smooth delight and then walked back along the Seine through some gardens and finally back to hotel.
With nothing planned for the afternoon, Mumsie took the opportunity to wash some jeans and get them dry and then we re-packed our cases.
Later we went for last drinks at our local watering hole and then had dinner at another one of our favourites just down the Boulevard St Germain.
Well, our 8 days in Paris has been a really excellent stay - the hotel was in a perfect location and the local cafes and bars satisfied all our requirements!
The tours we did to Villers Bretonneaux and to the Champagne Region were great value and we saw beautiful countryside. Just to actually be at those cemeteries and famous towns was a privilege.
Paris itself was just as amazing as it is purported to be! If history is your thing then you are in constant heaven - the number of famous landmarks is mind boggling! I'm definitely NOT into history, but I still found plenty to interest me!
The economy is obviously quite buoyant in France if the amount of construction is anything to go by - there seemed to be cranes on every corner. Unfortunately we also saw many, many beggars and people sleeping in the street everywhere! There was one woman opposite our hotel who was there the entire week - complete with a large ginger rabbit on her shoulder - but she always had a coffee or something to eat in her hand, so maybe they are there by choice! Certainly many we saw always had a bottle of wine in hand!
Food and drink can be very expensive but if you hunted about for some value you could actually pay very reasonable prices and there didn't seem to be any obligation to tip for service! We gave the very friendly waiter at Cafe Latin St Germain a few Euros on our last night and he was most appreciative!
All in all it was a week very well spent!
