Checked out of our motel this morning and made our way downtown and had a great late brekky, then headed to the USS Midway Museum where we spent over 2 hours looking over the huge aircraft carrier! What a fantastic attraction it is - the audio tour was first class and we looked at most of the ship, including the engine room, galleys and much, much more! All this for $20 too! It was quite hot and claustrophobic in some parts below the main hangar deck, but out on the landing deck the breeze was beautiful and the display of aircraft was awesome! It was hard to believe that when I walked the entire length of the deck that it was all 3 inch armoured steel plate and not concrete!
After we had finished with the tour we headed north to Los Angeles and tried to find somewhere reasonably priced, safe and nice enough to stay! The traffic was OK and we tried a little to the north west of the city, so that we could easily access Santa Monica to finish off the trip tomorrow!
Well, that turned into a saga - we tried several places that looked fine on the internet but were absolute crap when we arrived - and then after spending half an hour grid locked in traffic we eventually found a place near Universal Studios which had 2 rooms available! It wasn't flash and the rooms were tiny, but it was clean and the car was secure! Enough said!
We had dinner at the Fox and Hound (tried hard Pommy Pub) across the road, which was pretty good and then turned in quite early!
