The Relais Histò San Pietro sul Mar Piccolo is the hotel I'm staying at. Looking out over the picturesque bay of the Mar Piccolo or little sea, the hotel is surrounded by over 70 acres of olive trees. Goat herders are often in the fields or crossing the roads on the way to the Histo.
The Relais Histò San Pietro sul Mar Piccolo Hotel is set in a medieval farm estate, a masseria, which has been completely renovated. The masseria was first recorded in 1392 as belonging to the Marrese family, its white Trani stone buildings have even more distant origins. The first building on this site was probably a Roman villa which was then converted into a convent for monks from a nearby monastery. Two of the hotel's most impressive features are the Antica Sorgentecloister and the estate's ancient church. This chapel is in the histo is beautiful Last night after they had a function and they were cleaning up we went into look around and take photos. There is a glass floor 3 ft square that looks down to the foundation below. It is lit up and looks cool. One of the staff asked if we wanted to go down and take a look around. There was a big room, maybe used for water in roman times and two narrow passage ways, one went to the water and was supposedly built by the romans. Very cool! Going to try and get back down there with a flashlight
