Yesterday I worked for Marie at the caravan park for a few hours cleaning cabins. I then packed up the van ready for travelling. But all did not go to plan because clumsy me decided I needed more of a challenge for the trip and so I threw myself out the caravan door (slipped actually) and landed on my thigh flat on the concrete pad. Pat is on days off and we are going up to the Staaten & Gilbert Rivers for a look on Sunday. Quite a few fresh water crocodiles were sunning themselves around the sandy banks of the rivers. Gilbert River is about 130km north of Normanton on the Chiligoe road, the Staaten is 160km. The Gilbert has more water in it for the moment. Today is the start of the Normanton Annual show and rodeo. This is a 3 day event that stops the shire. It starts on the Thursday afternoon with the themed parade through the main street. This year the theme was superheros. For such a small population they were great. The kids in the parade were so happy with their costumes they were worn repeatedly during the following days.
