Another great day of sunshine in Norway. We first headed to Holmenkollen ski jump where we could see the blue and the green and the city between. Next on the tour was the Vikingshipshuset where the Viking ships and burial artifacts from boat graves around the Oslo fjord are displayed. The ships were used for sea voyages before they were used as burial chambers more than 1,100 years ago. From the old to the new, we next visited the Kon-Tiki Museet and saw the actual Kon-Tiki balsa wood raft sailed by Thor Heyerdahl and crew of six in 1947. Think they said that expedition last 101 days After being dropped off at our hotel and being denied entrance due to a fire alarm going off, we ventured to the National Gallery to view art by Munch, The Scream, Madonna, The Girls on a Bridge, and other modernistic artists. Following this we walked a block to Museum of Natural History to see the Viking Helmet, Viking artifacts, exhibit representing the saving of Noresys gold from the Germans in WWII, and a Stave Church ceiling. After leaving Keith at the hotel I headed to City Hall on the wharf to view the fabulous wall murals and wood panel carvings. After a brisk walk I ended my Oslo walking tour at the Royal Palace and it's beautiful gardens and very impressive entry. Tonight we have our farewell dinner with the group and leave very early tomorrow morning for Stockholm.
