Finding time to write is proving easier said than done. I suppose it's a good sign cos it means there's loads going on. On Wednesday we arranged to see Julie. I hadn't planned to make Nick come but when we realised its as an hour and a half away it seemed easier. We decided to turn it into a little road trip. What a lovely day we had. We were on the road just after 9. We dropped Rich and the kids at muffin break and we were off. We stopped at Mac Donald's en route for brekko. It's completely different to home. Different grub and definitely a different service. They really haven't got the hang of fast food. Clearly WA means wait awhile, not Western Australia! We arrived at Julies just after 11. Her house is on a beautiful estate. Very posh! We were no sooner pulling up and she was out the door to greet us. She was so pleased to see us. Bless her. She took us to the garden and we had tea and home made Ancaz biscuits. Her garden is massive and green and lush. Completely different to Ellenbrook. Its surprising how different the weather is considering its only and hour and half away. I tried to act like I was admiring its beauty but really I was sussing out the creatures that could be lurking there! It was my idea of a nightmare. She had put a lot of thought and effort into our visit and had the whole day planned. First stop, Mandurah for lunch. It was a stunning little harbour surrounded by shops and restaurants. Julie said there are sometimes dolphins but we didn't see any. We found a gorgeous little fish and chip shop and was lucky enough to find a table by the waters edge. A picturesque back drop for lunch. The conversation was easy and despite not knowing each other overly well, there were no awkward silences. From there we wandered to the ice cream shop. Clearly Julie thinks I need feeding up! By the time we had completed our total over indulgence it was time to pop home. Michael, Julie's youngest son had arrived home and couldn't get in cos we were all out! He looked like a little street urchin sitting on the grass waiting for us. We said a quick hello and let him into the house and we were off again. This time to Rockingham. She chose well. Another beautiful place. We strolled along and she shared the tit bits of local knowledge that she knew. We found a pavement cafe and made our third and final pit stop. I was full to bursting but not wishing to be rude I accepted her offer of a cuppa. Or 3! Back to Julie's house after to be properly introduced to Michael and to get some pics for mum so she can see all the places Julie has described to her. They have a deligthful home and 2 delightful sons. They really do Julie proud. Julie loved her presents and the boys were over the moon with their sweets. We declined the offer of dinner as time was pressing on. I was meant to be walking the dog with Billy but we got stuck in traffic and didn't make it back in time. We didn't however make it back in time for pork chops, mash and onion gravy! Good old Billy. Seriously contemplating having my jaw wired when I get back to London!
