Ok so our trip plan is pretty fluid. Only Corinne has been to WA before and so we will spend a good month and a half at least in that part of the country plus revist some of our favourite spots in the top of NT such as Daly Water, Mataranka and Kakadu/Litchfield.
Our basic plan is:
Leaving Sydney in the afternoon of ANZAC Day 25 April after Chris has marched and had a good number of beers ( no he isnt driving the first leg). This will just be to get out of Sydney to avoid peak hour the next day!
First leg - We'll head to Wagga Wagga then to Hay and over the Hay plain to Mildura and onto Port Augusta.
Second Leg The Nullabor - first time for 4 of us so we'll take our time and enjoy the drive!
Third Leg - We'll turn right at Kalgoorlie and head into outback WA for a while and loop over towards the WA coast, landing at Jurien Bay about 200ks south of Geralton.
Fourth leg - From Jurien, we'll track all the way along the WA coast exploring every bit we possibly can all the way up through Denham, Carnarvon, Exmouth, then a side trip inland to Tom Price and newman and back to Headland, Broome and Derby. From there it will be Kimberley's time - Bungle Bungle's and then onto NT.
Fifth Leg Once we hit NT, it will be back to our favourite spots at the top. A few Kakadu places we didnt get to last trip and the ones we loved like Ubirr. Daly Waters and Mataranka of course, Litchfield and the swimming holes.
Sixth Leg Here's where it really gets loosely planned! We'll turn at 3 Ways and head into the Gulf, Lawn Hill and basically head towards the FNQ coast.
Seventh Leg The homeward bound leg. This will all be dependant on timings so we'll meander through QLD possibly alternating from coast to inland all the way home.
We are fully self sufficient - solar powered and the Kipor genni so can and will just stop wherever the goings good and for however long we can or want!! Dosent get any better than that!
Follow us on our journey - you can message us here and we will be regular poster. Kids have to write a journal for school so this will be our homework - plus to keep as a permanent record.
We've got 2 special Bat phones for this trip so if you need to urgently contact us they are:
