We arrived at Te Anau, it's a very small town only really visited as a gateway to Milford Sounds. Was a pretty little town though, we walked around the lake, found a little wooden swing and played on that until we saw people coming and realised how sad we looked!! That night we stayed in the hostel and watched Borat. The next day we had a cruise booked at Milford Sounds, so off we set off in our little Hyundai for the two hour drive. It was a really cool drive, you are driving through National Park the whole way there so it's very pretty. We were passing beautiful lakes and huge snow capped mountains. We stopped at Mirror Lake for a picnic lunch. Mirror lake did exactly what it said on the tin - mirrored everything, which was cool as it was surrounded by high mountains so was very pretty. We had our ham and cheese sandwiches in the car and off we went. Arrived at Milford Sounds, it is a big lake heading out to the Tasman sea, again surrounded by snow capped mountains and has very impressive waterfalls. The sounds collects over 7m of rain a year so has tons of trees growing from the rocks, very beautiful. The cruise took us around the sound. The best bit of the cruise was when the boat went right under a waterfall creating a beautiful rainbow over the boat. However, as lovely as the cruise was it did get a bit "samey," so we amused ourselves by playing rock, paper, scissors - now that was fun!! The cruise ended just as the sun was setting, looked lovely as it dissapeared behind the mountains. The drive home was very frustrating as we got stuck behind a very slow man, as as the roads are very windy you can't overtake, very annoying. Back at the hostel we watched mission impossible 3 then went to bed. Today we arrived in Invercavgill, will update soon fans. Meeting Bill and Leah at the weekend to celebrate Leahs new job, so keep tuned for all that and more! xx
