This morning we set off on the underground to city central where we needed to go to the RTA office and register ourselves as the new owner of our car, Frank - we arrived at 1pm and the place had shut at 12!
We then took the train back to the opera house to see it in the daytime - still just as impressive and this time we got close enough to go inside and there probably isnt many people that can say 'we went to the loo in the Sydney Opera House'.
Next to the opera house is the botanical gardens - a FREE park area housing strange trees, some have even toppled over, and loads of huge fruit bats all hanging upside down in the trees (or are they the right way up with being in Oz?)
After getting lost and completely starving, we treated ourselves to a $6 sausage roll before heading back to the hostel.
This evening, Ai and Andrew took us out again to Darling Harbour - the plan was to go and see the Jazz Festival, unfortunately nobody checked the times and it had finished by the time we got there!
Not to worry, they then took us to a seafood restaurant right on the harbour where we had everything! Prawns, soft shelled crab, hard shelled crab, squid, mussels, pasta, salmon, a bug thing and even Octopus! It was actually really good! They even kindly treated us to the meal which we were not expecting and is so nice!!
Then night got even better as Ai then made sure we went to the Lindt Cafe - Claire's favourite place so far! We had amazing ice cream with melted chocolate sauce poured all over it and then drinks of hot chocolate which was basically hot milk with a seperate jug of melted milk chocolate to stir in to your liking!
We had a great night, and then Andrew dropped us back off in hell. We have arranged to hopefully meet up with them again when we are back in Sydney.
Looking forward to getting into Frank and starting our way up the coast tomorrow. With our first stop being Dave's Uncle's in Port Stephens.
