Time to drive in the city! Had to wait a good half hour first as the car door wouldnt open, well, it did, but it just locked shut straight away! Great. After a few cross words and not being able to open the door we tried the boot and realised that the latch had jammed. Not to worry, we soon fixed it, but have to make sure that the latch is always down when we open and lock the car.
Before long we were off and out into the huge city of Sydney. It went well and we were soon on the harbour bridge heading up the coast.
3 1/2 hours later, after driving aimlessly up and down roads, round in circles we made it to Dave's Uncle Jonas' house in Newcastle/Port Stephens. He lives in a small and quiet village/caravan park on the way to the coastal town of Nelson Bay where dolphins and whales are spotted early morning.
It didnt take us long to get comfy on the settee with a proper cup-a-tea and bar of GALAXY! Dave's ma and pa had kindly sent 2 bars over and the first bar didnt last very long with Claire!
Time flew as we chatted about everything from Dave's family, Australia and Burnley 40-50 years ago - a little different to what it's like now anyway. Before long it was teatime - a homecooked meal of pork chops, mash and gravy! We have so missed proper grub.
Did some more talking and catching up for the rest of the night before settling in front of the tele.
