Hah! And we thought that the lines at Animal Kingdom were bad! Hollywood Studios is fat worse. We made it to the studios by catching a taxi here, rather than risk the bus system and sent Matt ahead to get in line for ‘Smuggler’s Run’, one of the Star Wars rides. We made it through security and into the park, moving at a fast pace to the Star Wars section of the park. We found a shady space to park Sue and met Matt in line. Just to put it in perspective; we are talking 9:05am and the line for the ride is already 110 minutes. Yup, an almost 2 hour wait for a ride lasting about 6 minutes. Was it worth it? Well, the experience of walking through a Star Port and looking at the inside of the Millenium Falcon was pretty good, and the ride was impressive. 2 hour wait impressive? No.
It was also quite warm and we looked around the various shops of the Star Port. Disappointing. A lot of cheap, tacky crap. Unless of course you are willing to pay out the big bucks. You could build yourself a lightsaber. Cheap and plastic. Or you could buy a replica; $170-200 US. You could buy a plastic droid. Cheap. Or you could build your own droid where every aspect of the build cost money.
At least the actors (sorry, cast members) were in character. We got accosted by various Stormtroopers along the way, and Sue got to talk to R2-D2. There was also an ongoing search from The First Order for Rebel spies in the Star Port which kept things going well.
We walked over to ‘The Tower of Terror’ as we had Fast Passes for this and even managed to get Sue on board. Mistake. MS and freefalling do not mix. We spent the rest of the afternoon trying to get photos for Katie with Sherbet.
