Back on the road again as we left Disney quite early and headed north, back towards Savannah and Georgia. Apart from the roadworks and the constant traffic that we encountered, it wasn’t a bad drive. We crossed from Florida into Georgia, then into South Carolina and then into North Carolina.
Most of the drive was country, with the trees changing from palm to deciduous and the lack of leaves making for an interesting spectacle. The interstate skirts most of the towns and cities and we only had glimpses of suburbia, apart from the few times we got off for a break. We had planned on dropping into a McAllisters for lunch as Sue and Katie had enjoyed their salad so much, but didn’t see any, despite the fact tha5 Google Maps said that there were 2 somewhere on the route.
We pulled into Charlotte about 6pm to what, on the outside appeared to be a very plain hotel and were pleasantly surprised to find the Hyatt to be very pleasant on the inside, including quite a good restaurant/bar which served some decent food.
