On day 10 we decided to stay on the barge rather than riding. The weather was heavy rain and cool. Today we cycled through more small towns. We spent some time watching a roof get thatched. Had lunch at a small farm where we were served homemade apple pie. We visited a stork nest area as well. Arriving at our destination we took a walk through the town where silversmith is a specialty.

Today we rode to Heusen, a fortified city. Had lunch there and walked around the city. From there we cycled on a high dike through towns where the houses all had thatched roofs. We wound up at another fortified castle. We then took a very small ferry to return to the barge.

Today was an off day in den Bosch. We started the day with an underground canal ride under the city. visited St John cathedral and then St James cathedral which was dedicated to Hieronymus Bosch. An artist from the 1400s who painted very different paintings depicting good vs evil in a Dali-esque manner. We then strolled the city through the Saturday market of every kind of food. We biked today to the town of Neuren where Vincent van gogh spent his early years before going on to London Amsterdam and Paris. Here he painted potato people, poor working people. His paintings were dark without color. A very interesting museum is dedicated to him in this town. Form there we pedaled through more countryside til lunch in a field next to a pond.
