Today we left to ride on the dikes where the river once flowed and is now greenery with farms, bird sanctuaries. We stopped for apple pies and coffee, a daily morning activity. Eventually we crossed into Germany. You can tell the difference between holland and Germany by in Germany there is a different road surface, wires above ground, houses with solar power and more agressive drivers. We visited a war museum describing how a major assault to take bridges in Netherlands back from Germany. They were only partially successful as depicted in the movie a bridge too far. We did ride in the rain for a bit. We rode through forests and a town named kranemburg where we had lunch. We were supposed to ride to a ferry to the barge but the ferry was broken down. This caused us to ride and additional 12 miles. It made for a long day.
