Cindy Aserkoff's Travels
On day 10 we decided to stay on the barge rather than riding. The weather was heavy rain and cool. After arriving in utrecht there was a short break in the weather so we rode 3 kilometers into Utrecht. We parked our bikes in an underground bike parking garage The racks were very clever and parking was free Utrecht is a lively city with an university and many college students. The old city has a Protestant church and gentlemans club that king William used. The city has the deepest canal. We saw a 'general store' where the architecture had goddesses holding up the building because women were the stronghold of the society. The name of the chain store found in every city is winkel and stinkel. The ride back was done in a major downpour. Day 11 We rode from Utrecht to Amsterdam in rain and extremely strong winds. Towns were pretty with expensive vacation homes. Stopped at a restaurant where the pea soup was amazing. Return to Amsterdam for final official last day of the tour. Tomorrow is a free day in Amsterdam. We will visit rikjs museum which was under construction last time we were here. A canal ride is planned. Dinner is at an Indonesian restaurant.
