We left Esperance on Sunday and tried to go shopping before heading back east towards a town called Bremer Bay, unfortunately because it was Sunday all the shops were closed so we had to leave the town with absolutely no food for dinner! We drove for around 4 hours and finally got to our next stop, which we had only decided to stop at originally because it sounds so much like Joel's last name! It's a really nice, quiet town though, and luckily the supermaket was open so we didn't starve that night. In the morning we stocked up on more food and then headed out to Main Beach where we had a walk along the sand dunes and up to the estuary - a very nice beach, just a little bit cold from the southerly winds. Next we headed up to the wind turbine above the town where there was a lookout that had really good views over the town, the estuary and the surrounding beaches, and it really showed how far away from anything the town is! We then headed down to Point Henry, just south of the town, to visit some of the other beaches - Short Beach, Blossom Beach and Native Dog Beach, they were all really beautiful but again a bit too cold for us to sit on because of the wind. To make a change from the beach in the afternoon we visited the Gnornbup Winery just outside of town where we tasted 4 different white wines and 2 sparking wines, and we even bought a bottle for $6 which was a bargain! Back at the campsite in the afternoon we decided to make the 2 mile round trip down to the last beach, Back Beach, it was a really lovely walk and the views were amazing (again). To make the day even better, in the evening we finally saw some kangaroos up close! One jumped right past our tent, and when we went looking for more we saw 2 eating some grass just behind the campsite - we were really happy as it was the first time we saw wild kangaroos up close!
