Day 16- Last day on Rome- today has been quite chilled out. We got up and went straight to the pool to sunbathe for a few hours before we got the train to Florence. It is about 30 degrees in Italy just now depending where your at ofcourse. But in the middle of the day it's almost unbearable. We then got packed up and aimed for the train station. The shuttle bus driver at our camp was a total ass and didn't do pick ups every half hour so we were a full hour waiting to go to the train station. We then had a 20 minute wait before our 20 minute journey to the metro. Then a half hour metro ride standing up with our big bags on because Italian people are a******s and horrifically ignorant. No one even moved out the way to help us. Finally, we arrived at the main train station 3 hours after we had planned to leave. There was then an hour queue to reserve tickets but we figured out how to work the machine and do it a different way thank god! We got a McDonald's in the station cause we hadn't eaten all day and just wanted fat food and then got on the high speed train to Florence.
Our hostel was just a 10 minute walk from the station which was handy. We got in and organised and then headed out for a drink. We stumbled onto this lovely resterant where we had a salad and a massive bottle of beer. Like a wine bottle of beer! It was lovely craft beer from Florence! The waiter was also chatting to us and we happened to mention music and found out he's big into music and pals with Marcus Mumford.. Pretty cool! His friend owns a bar round the corner so he mentioned going there tomorrow night for drinks which would be cool.
Anyways, today has been great. Topped up on the tan and drank some lovely beer! Roll on exploring Florence tomorrow!
