First day in Rome- The train we had originally planned to get on was fully booked so we had to hang about the train station for a while. Becca had a wee Micky dees and I chilled and read my new book (Detective Laidlaw it's called I think, it's a crime one set in Glasgow. It's really good!). The train was one of those high speed ones which I have never been on. At one point we were going 247kph.
Colosseum- once in Rome, we dumped our bags in the train station and went for a wee walk. The train station there is very dodgy and we did not feel safe at all there. We walked down towards the colosseum thinking that we would just have a look and do it tomorrow but all the tourists were going home so we went in.. For free. Haha! It was amazing, so overwhelming due to the size of course. It's shame I don't know more history because I would have been even more amazed. We got a couple of pictures and read all the info and headed to the train station to pick up our stuff. We had to get a metro then a train then a bus to our campsite which was annoying. Once we got there it was 9 o'clock and we hadn't eaten or slept properly. We went and got some pizza and pasta and ended up in bed by 11 absolutely knackard. Roll on tomorrow when the real exploring begins.
