Stonehenge is the best known prehistoric stone circle. It's name is actually the generic for the ancient monuments. I have and all too brief visit to Oxford. I do so want to see more! It is wonderful. I only had an hour, but during that time I was able to get a glimpse of about 6 of the colleges, to visit an exhibition at the Bodleian, and to wander briefly in the Covered Market that was moved to Turl street in 1772 when it outgrew it's site on Carfax. I arrived back in London last night to find that they have turned on the Christmas lights. My hotel, the Thistle Marble Arch, is on Oxford Street and so I am in the thick of it. If only I could shake off the awful cold that I have caught :-(
