Smarties travels
Hi everyone, It's all go in Xi'an! As you can see my first day in Xi'an was spent in the hospital, after waking up on the train and finding one side of my face and neck swollen up and looking like the elephant man i thought it would be best to visit the hospital! for the first hour or 2 in the hospital it was utter panic on my behalf, i was led from doctor to doctor who couldn't speak english fingering through the phrase book trying to get some idea of what the hell was going on and then finally i was given a translator and everything went swimmingly from there. 4 x-rays and a boat load of pills later and i'm on the mend. Since being here we've been to see the terracotta warriors. When you get there you can see why it's right up there with the great wall as one of the main attractions in china. The figures are just amazing, the pictures just don't do it justice! I still can't believe it was only found 31 years ago by accident by peasents digging a well. There are 7000 of these soldiers and they're over 2000 years old!! Walking around the city is really nice, it's alot quiter than Vietnam because they have a ban on using their horns in the city and it's welcome! the city is very clean and there are some nice things to see like the city walls and the bell tower. But by night things change! it turns into a seedy city full of hookers and pimps trying to drag you into their 'shops' for a bit of action! We're here for another day or 2 and then we're off to Song Shan to see some shaolin kung fu in the temples we're even thinking of joining the school for the day and getting our asses kicked in training! speak to you all soon.
