After our last trip (Whitsundays, for those of you who don't remember) we went down to Hervey Bay & Fraser Island. Didn't fancy the responsibility of driving ourselves & did fancy the idea of being cooked for, so we booked ourselves on a tour in a massive green 4WD bus thingy.... It was cool though, being driven up & down the beach to all the landmarks. Climbing up Indian Head & seeing Tiger Sharks (very close to some fisher men), Dolphins...

So, after 'temporarily mis-placing' our passports we needed a drink. So where better than Airlie Beach during Schoolies week (when all the little %&^%#'s are let loose by parents & can try to buy alcohol - generally without success). The campsite we choose is very nice but jammed full of them, so we thought if you can't beat them, join them & decided to get drunk by 4pm & hang around McDonalds & KFC till about 11... Got ourselves down to Mission Beach, found a nice campsite right on the beach (even better because the guy who ran it didn't care, so we didn't pay!!!). Got confused when a local asked if I was watching the footie later - went through about 5 sports before getting to Rugby League. Back again!!!! Been a while we know, errrr sorry. Plane touched down in Cairns & it was still sunny!! Hurrah Found ourselves a nice little backpackers 10 minutes walk from the city centre with a free bus taking us to free meals & cheap (briefly) drinks. We're getting the hang of this backpacking lark. Met lots of people there & had some good nights out. Had enough of sitting around getting a tan & waiting to get drunk, so we booked ourselve...

Yes, I know we arrived in Australia over a month ago, but we've like sooooooooooooooo busy or something! Anyway, got into Darwin in the middle of the night & it was roasting! Very, very, very, very, very nice to be back in an English speaking (sort of) country though. Until we discovery how much things are going to cost over here.... Ouchy! Lots of very nice people to help us out though & we make it to the backpackers with minimal fuss. Dorm time!!!...
