Back again!!!! Been a while we know, errrr sorry.
Plane touched down in Cairns & it was still sunny!! Hurrah
Found ourselves a nice little backpackers 10 minutes walk from the city centre with a free bus taking us to free meals & cheap (briefly) drinks. We're getting the hang of this backpacking lark. Met lots of people there & had some good nights out.
Had enough of sitting around getting a tan & waiting to get drunk, so we booked ourselves onto a trip to THE GREAT BARRIER REEF . Naturally it was centred around under water activities & the respective diving & snorkelling experience was added to considerably. We had an overnight trip with Reef Encounter & the crew took excellent care of us and our gear. Lots of fish, sharks (a little scary at night), turtles (really boring at night) and Wobbygongs (why they can't give it a proper name i don't know)....
Back to Cairns & had another night out & got drunk. Horrifically. Still can't remember it
Then we picked up our little Camper van, which i'm loathe t admit had Campette scrawled all over the side.... Not good for the image!
Drove ourselves up to Port Douglas & left due to high cost/low population. Then onwards to Cape Trib & the Daintree. Beautiful beach at Cape Trib, fine golden sand that manages to work its way into your camera lens & knacker it! So don't expect any photo's of that bit folks.
Even decided to head inland a bit to the Atherton tablelands & surrounding area for a night or 2. Lots of National Park places to stay & it was lovely, if a little windy.
