We arrived in Noosa for our free everglades tour that we got from the travel agency. We weren't expecting much from a free tour and we were right. We stopped off to get food and booze first before driving out to the Gagaju bush camp, it was in the middle of the Everglades and had (evil) drop toilets which didn't please Brid. Luckily the group we were with seemed nice enough so I wasn't all bad, it was a total cowboy operation and the guys running it didn't give 2 cr*ps about what you did. The guy sat us down and gave us 3 days instructions with the comment " I wont be repeating these so you better listen" nice, no maps or nothing. We had a couple of beers before headed off to our beastie infested dorm room.
Next day and we canoed down the river, left the canoes by the river and walked to the beach with a big group of folk. The canoeing was harder than it looked as we were going against the currant. We eventually made it back to the original camp and camp there for the night, it started raining during the night but somehow our 2 dollar tent managed to keep the rain out.
Next day and we paddled 14km up the river passing by a tree swing which was good fun, we spent a good bit of time jumping off there before moving up river again to the camp site. Went for a couple of beers in the local pub before cooking on our camp stove and have some more beers round the tents with the rest of the group. At 4:30 in the morning the rain stated again and this time our tent didn't hold up, out tent started to fill with water and so did the rest of the groups. We all got up and sat in the rain from 4:30 till about 7 before packing up our stuff and paddling back the main camp site, it was quite good fun canoeing in the rain as it was roasting anyway. We had to back at the bus station for 12 as we had to catch the bus at1 for Hervey Bay; travel agency had left us no time at all between tours.!!!!
