Although our flight wasn't until 4pm we got up early and were at the airport by 10am, we wanted out of that place as soon as possible! Arrived at our hotel O Bangkok by about 7pm, checked in then went straight out to explore the area. We are located about 5mins from the Koh San Road, the main backpacker's area in Bangkok. It is crammed with shops, street stalls, bars, restaurants and street vendors selling awesome cheap grub. We thought by now we would have lost some weight but the food has been so good! Spent 3hours uploading Chinas photos onto the site and bumped into Al (a guy we met in Nepal) and had a drink with him and Caz.
Friday we just explored the area a little more, did some shopping and hit the bars in the evening. Close by to our hotel is a VW campervan which has been converted into a really cool cocktail bar. It has about 100 to choose from and they only cost a quid!
Saturday morning we left the hotel nice and early and took a taxi to Chatuchak market for a morning of serious shopping. It is absolutely huge, you even get map on your way in! You can buy anything you want, it certainly beats Kempton Market! We both brought a few bits that were nice and cheap, it's a shame Bangkok isn't our last stop. Only shame was a lot of the clothes were one size and anyone over a size 10 aint gonna get in them! The best and worst parts of the market were the pet stalls. So many dogs, rabbits and other small animals. The rabbits were dressed in tiny dresses and looked so sad. I wanted to buy the lot and take them home with me to find some nice family to live with! The dogs did however look really cared for. They were bathing them, blow-drying and tying little bows in their fur. I just hope that they were all taken home, I hate to think what would happen if they got big and nobody wanted them.
After the market we went to a couple of shopping malls which were pretty bad. As a thank you for shopping all day, I took Bradley to The Hard Rock Café for dinner and on the way back stopped at a roadside cocktail bar.
Sunday was so hot and humid we didn't want to move so we didn't! Tom and Hammy arrived from Hong Kong (they were delayed for ages) and we went out for dinner on the Koh San. We got some chicken curry off a street vendor for about 50p and it was so good - better than Hard Rock and cheaper! Booked our overnight bus and ferry to Ko Tao, beach here we come!!
