Started our stay in Singapore with a day sopping on the famous Orchard Road. We must have gone in about 12 malls and by the time we got the train back to the hostel we were exhausted! In the evening we strolled down to High, a bar come gaming centre which was a complete rip off and in the end decided not to show the Chelsea game! So we found another bar full of go go girls who thankfully left us to our beer & the footie!
Being idoits we got the train to Raffles Place, presuming thats where Raffles Hotel would be, only to find its a business district. So we got the tube to City Hall and found the Long Bar, home to the infamous Singapore Sling. The bar was nice but not as glam as we imagined so our dress up was a waste as everyone had there flip flops & shorts on anyway! We wandered around the shops and the cortyard before looking at the sales at the plaza across the street. When we got back we were invited to Singapores Night Safari by Julia, a girl staying our hostel. We grabbed a taxi and arrived just in time to catch the Creatures Of The Night show. Then we opted to walk (instead of take the tram) around the park as we got closer to the animals who were active and not half asleep like in the zoos during the day! The highlight for sure was the fight we see between two fishing cats. They disappeared under the water for what seemed like 10minutes before one managed to escape the others grip. We thought they might drown each other!
The following day we went to yet another shopping centre, Bugis for more shopping, lunch and a movie. My flip flops broke so I had no choice but to buy more!
Tuesday morning we were up pretty early to make our way North to the Zoo. Unfortunately it rained really bad all day long but we got some of those poncho's to keep us dry. The zoo was great and the rian kept the crowds away. It was nice to see all the animals were in big enclosures and we got close, especially in the rainforest walkway. The highlight was the polar bear feed. They dropped a live fish in the water and the male bear chased and caught it, showed it to the crowd before eating it! Only problem was leaving, there were no taxis so we had to wait an hour!
Wednesday we had a deserved lie in before heading to Hard Rock and watching The Bourne Ultimatum. We cant get enough of the cheap cinema and it gets us out of the heat!
Took a taxi down to the harbour front and went across to Sentosa Island by cable car. All buses on the island are free and ferry people to all the attractions so we jumped on and head to the Underwater World. It is a small aquarium with a viewing tunnel with sharks and rays. Next stop was Dolphin Lagoon for the English commentary show. The dolphins were adorable and performed tricks for the crowd. They are actually born grey and turn pink with age. After the show we got some lunch and then went to play mini-golf. It was fun even though it rained halfway round and Chelsea won!! Then we took the cable car back to the mainland and Vivo City shopping mall which was definately the best shopping in Singapore! Shock our next stop was the cinema (I am beginning to think we have a problem!) then back to the hostel.
Spent our last day in the hostel chilling out and looking back at how much money we spent! Had a really fantastic time and can't wait to go back for ore excellent shopping! Had an early flight to Perth on the Saturday so we were up at 5, Chelsea fell asleep before the plane had backed out onto the runway!
