We started the day with a walk around Merdeka square and the Lake gardens stopping in the butterfly house. It was in Merdeka Square that Malaysias independence was proclaimed in 1957. The Lake Gradens are where the British built their homes, away from the hustle of city. Today we started with a walking tour of the main sights of Georgetown, Penang. We also walked along the sea front and around Cornwallis Fort. It was here that Brit Captain Light first arrived on the Island and it became a base for The East India Trading Company.
