7am pick up and a 10hour bus journey from Airlie Beach to Kroombit cattle Station, an overnight stop to break up the journey. Just out of Airlie we stopped to play lawn bowls which was actually a lot of fun!
For lunch we stopped at the home of Australias biggest burgers, we opted for the junior versions!
We arrived at the cattle station at about 7pm and had dinner before the games began. The first farm experience was whip cracking. We practised with our goggles before jumping up on a platform to show everyone if we could do it. Then the mechanical bull had us entertained for an hour or so with our group having a go before a group of locals. We then sat around the campfire playing games.
A bright and early start to enjoy the goat rodeo and some clay pigeon shooting. The shot gun was heavy and really hurt my shoulder when I shot at the flying discs. Brad was a natural and hit 3 out of 5 discs! Then for the goat rodeo we split into groups of 3 before heading into the pen. We each had our own task; catching the goat, flipping it over and branding it. It sounds a lot easier than it was! We were in group one and took ages, I couldn't catch it so tagged brad and he caught it eventually. It was a big and heavy goat so it took a while to flip it before our 3rd member brand it. I also joined the last group to make 3 and we done it in the quickest time so I was in the wining and losing group!
The rest of the day was spent driving to the next stop, the Town of 1770. We spent 2 days here just relaxing at the beach and doing nothing. Theres not much to do here so I wouldn't recommend it!
