My Family Travels
My good friend Erin teaches near Washington DC, so I decided to visit for a few days this summer. I definitely wanted to hang out with her, but we had some fun planned as well.
The first day we went to the Mall in DC. Erin knew the owner of a food truck, so we found out where it was parked. Homemade cookies and ice cream! Yum! Too bad it rained. Eating ice cream in the rain is not as fun as it could be. Then we wandered around the monuments at the Mall. I wanted to see the Martin Luther King Jr. Monument. I thought it was pretty nice. While wondering around the monuments, I love to get the Jr Ranger booklets for my classroom. We also checked out the Postal Museum in DC. I really enjoyed this place. We could wander around like the kids we teach. There were several interactive displays, which were fun. And I loved the free postcards!
Another night we went to a minor league baseball game, the Bowie Baysox! Erin had never been to a minor league game, so it was great fun showing her how cheesy these games can be. The same amount of fun as a major league game, but definitely cheaper. I don't remember if they won or lost, but I remember having a great time!
Overall I had a fantastic time visiting with my great friend. I got to see how her life is on the East Coast.
