My Family Travels
In the days that we have been in Los Angeles, we have hit many of the typical southern California things to do! Here is a list of what we have done in the classic California adventure.
Sarah & Steve
Sarah is Paul's cousin. It was so great staying with them for the last few days. Being able to stay with family was a nice way to spend our time here.
Sand
We spent a few hours on Venice Beach. It was great to just relax in the sun. Every California vacation needs to sit on the beach for a bit. I am going to be getting sand out of my hair for the rest of the trip. We also walked down the Venice Beach Boardwalk. This is a great place to people watch. There are definite characters on the boardwalk.
Stars
No trip to Los Angeles is complete without a trip to see Hollywood. We stopped by the Chinese Theater where there are the hand prints and foot prints of the stars. We had fun looking for the stars we recognized. Also there is the walk of fame on the sidewalks by the theater. We didn't walk too much of these, because there were so many people around.
Snack
To validate our parking, we needed to buy something at the shops where we parked near. Sarah said that the cream puff shop, Beard Papa, was really good. And it was! That was a great snack to give us energy to find the Hollywood sign.
Sign
We could see the Hollywood sign from the stores near the Chinese theater, but couldn't get a good picture from there. So we tried to find the trail to take some better pictures. It took a while, but we found it. We walked part of the trail. When we turned around, there it was! A perfect place to take pictures.
Stores
A tour of Hollywood is also on the must do list of Los Angeles. The trolley tour that we rode, took us around Rodeo Drive and Beverly Hills. I felt like I needed to pay to walk down Rodeo Drive. The window displays in some of these top name brand stores were beautiful. The homes along the tour were gorgeous, although very expensive. Our tour guide wasn't able to give us the names of the celebrities that lived in the houses currently, but she was able to tell us who used to live there.
Sitting in Traffic
LA is known for its terrible traffic. Terrible isn't strong enough of a word. We didn't sit in traffic for hours, but when we did, it was more than terrible. The worst was going to the Dodger game. The GPS did say that there would be a 12 minute delay. I think 12 minutes turned into 45 minutes! Yuk!
Strikes
Our second baseball game of the trip was the LA Dodgers. The stadium has a great feel as a baseball fan stadium. We got there too late to get the free t-shirts. The weather was so hot! It was mid 80s, but we were sitting in the sun. I put on a ton of sunscreen and I still am a bit red. The crowd got into the game when Puig came into the game. He is a great player who is younger than my brother. The one rough part of this game was how to get around the stadium. We had the hardest time going from top to bottom, and vice versa. Even so, I liked this stadium better than Petco Park in San Diego.
