This morning we left Franz Josef where a few people who had the time decided to stay an extra night. It is such a beautiful place, I can't really blame them at all, but I'm looking forward to Wanaka. This morning was another early start, which I seam to be writing more and more frequently. We all got dressed, filled up on carbs and headed out. Today we were going for a heli-hike. We got kitted up in boots and waterproofs and crossed the road to the helipads.There were loads of them, all empty, so we waited for our lift! The chopper flew in at such a sharp angle, it was really amazing to see how agile they are, and made the impending trip much more exciting. ...

We left Lake Mahinapua at a reasonable time and headed south for the short journey to Frans Joseph. We stopped along the way for a few snaps and found a really windy valley which funnels the wind from one side of the island to the other. Even walking was hard work but it was a cool few minutes. Had a bit of a lie in this morning and headed on our way to Lake Mahinapua. On our way we first stopped to go for a nice coastal walk which took about 20 mins before heading onward. Woke up this morning at 9! Was fantastic! I was the lucky one in the room who got a single bed rather than sharing a bunk! I slept sooo well and really felt good when I woke up! So good that once I had a shower me and Harry cooked bacon rolls for everyone with the bacon we had left! Breakfast for breakfast, that's more like it!
