This morning was another early start, which I seam to be writing more and more frequently. We all got dressed, filled up on carbs and headed out. Today we were going for a heli-hike. We got kitted up in boots and waterproofs and crossed the road to the helipads.There were loads of them, all empty, so we waited for our lift! The chopper flew in at such a sharp angle, it was really amazing to see how agile they are, and made the impending trip much more exciting. ...

We left Lake Mahinapua at a reasonable time and headed south for the short journey to Frans Joseph. We stopped along the way for a few snaps and found a really windy valley which funnels the wind from one side of the island to the other. Even walking was hard work but it was a cool few minutes. Jumped back in the bus quickly to stop me freezing to death! We carried on through the gorgeous landscapes and arrived in Franz Joseph at around 12:30. Was nice to get so...
