We have been in Koh Tao for 8 days in total and this has been my favourite part of the trip to date. Over the last 6 day Alex and I have been completing our Open Water and Advanced Diving course. We started out in the swimming pool with all of our gear on playing games and finding out how everything worked. Next step the sea, I am not going to pretend that I wasn't slightly hesitant, because I was, especially as there had been shark sightings in the previous days! I found out later they were actually whale sharks, and they don't eat people, well on diver a few years ago got sucked in by mistake but the shark spat him out again! So first and second dive were successful, we saw some amazing fish, the cutest was a family of Nemo's (these tiny clown fish were so sweet) We had to complete skills in the sea like flooding your mask and stuff pretty boring to talk about, but passes all of that. The third and fourth dives were also pretty cool, when you have got your buoyancy right in the water you can do back flips and surf on your flippers, that was a lot of fun. The only real trouble we had was a few stray flippers from other divers and getting landed on when someone went to high... Alex and I were really good so we didn't have any of these problems! hehe We all passed the open water with flying colours and decided that we would then try our hand at the Advanced course. This was fantastic, we had to do a deep dive, where Bull Sharks were living and we chose to do a Photography and fish ID part too. All of the dives were awesome as we were qualified we could go off on our own exploring the reefs and taking photos.... It turns out and I knew all along that I am excellent with a compass and I was in charge of the navigating, didn't get lost once! During the dives we saw some awesome fish, Trigger Fish, barracudas, angel fish, string rays, blow fish, eels, Harlequin sweet lips and loads of other pretty ones I don't know the names of! However the best was saved for last as the final dive was a night dive. This was fantastic we all had torches and got to go and look around at night, the coolest part was the Bio luminous particles which glowed when you moved your hands with your torches off. All in all I have loved Koh Tao the place is beautiful, peaceful and the people here are some of the nicest I have met!
