The first of many entries to my new travel journal. We arrived in Bangkok yesterday afternoon to heavy rain and some interesting taxi driving and after finding our hotel with ease, we decided to head to the main road to see what was going on and find our bearings. Discovering on our way that the Thai people are very friendly and within about 10 steps from our hotal we were in a cab with a Thai lady to book up our train tickets for our time after Bangkok.
We met Jack, not American, who was very happy to help (and take our money) and has sorted our next two weeks, heading to Chang Mai and then Loas. Slightly dazed by how quick we had sorted everything we went to met Kim and Ste (2 of Alex's work friends) near the Ko San Road for drinks. Passing an elephant on the main road, we made it to the bar and drank lots of beer and buckets of interesting mixtures... I then carried Al home!
This morning, both feeling rather ropey, we met Kim and Ste to see the sights of the Grand Palace and one of many Buddas. We have also discovered the interesting travel of the Tuk Tuks and actually got thrown out of one, an excellent start! An afternoon nap was necessary and we are now heading off to a Ping Pong show, which Alex is very excited about!
