Franz Josef fox glacier

ICE ICE BABY!!! Welcome to franz Josef where temperate rain foes meets huge ice glacier. Confused? You're not the only one! So first of two nights is party time straight away! The friendly welsh host oscar put on a good show. Good tunes, cheap ish drinks and a little competition... LIMBO!!! I unfortunately didn't win but gave it a good go! Plus the free shots each round were a nice extra :p. So after finally busting a groove on the floor it was up really really early for day two.

I bought a heli pass and hike up to the glacier. We headed to the centre and got kitted out in jackets, trousers and crampons! We even got a cute little glacier guides bag. Sexy! However when we were approached by our guide things went slightly downhill. There isn't really any other way to describe poor Rowan as a little slow... He seemed very nervous at the start and then would start talking about random things almost to himself :s. But needless to say the views in the glacier were amazing! We climbing up and through ice walls, caves and tunnels. So a good, if slightly odd, trip. Perhaps not worth $300 nz but I'm still glad I did it!!! Next stop folks is the beautiful lake wanaka and then queenstown!!!
