Okay, so i've made it to Melbourne. And the plan now is to look for a job and a room in a shared house. so far, after almost 36hours of trying,, im not getting very far. You might say to yourself... thats not a very long time, give it a week. Well considering i was up at 6am yesterday, spent all day looking online, around the area, on noticeboards, making phone calls and sending my CV to many people...it's not great that i havent yet received ONE phone call about anything. I've got a notepad to write down all the people to call and email about things but everytime i write a big list it ends up with 90% being crossed out because the job is gone or the room has been let. To add to the misery, the hostel im staying in will be charging an extra 6$ a night from monday because, oh yes, helpfully they have the australian open in Melbourne. Ordinarily i might go and see if i can watch it, but now it's just a pain. So i hope to have some kinda of room by monday, but the agency person i need to speak to is on holiday til then - always the way. Nevertheless, Melbourne isn't all bad, by a long way, in fact its very nice, and i think that makes it more annoying that things arent going to plan! The hostel is a very nice one, a converted nunnery with lots of religious pictures and stained glass around the place, but its not taken as a serious thing, so just a nice old building to stay in, with free breakfast, and a bbq tomorrow. So i should probably confess that i've taken to spending most of my day in the museam..it has free wireless, and free computers for 'research', its a shame the hostel is just about 10m too far away to pick up the signal from the room and that so many screeming children seem to frequent this place. I guess it's nice to be out of Sydney, it really wasnt for me, but i want to actually be able to enjoy being in Melbourne, and i cant see that happening until some money comes in and i can safely buy some food without the constant risk of it being stolen. Hopefully it wont be long now.
