Today we bussed from Boston to New York City. Our first spot was Central Park, where we mostly took pictures of ourselves on certain rocks and saying "I'm standing on a huge pile of schist!" It seemed like tourists and locals alike took part in this tradition, which I could guess by listening to the accents of people. We got to see the Alice in Wonderland statue, which everyone climbed up young and old alike. I heard and saw people from many nationalities around New York City in a just an hour of being there. In Central Park we also saw street performers in the shade of trees or bridges that played amazing jazz music. After Central Park we went on a guided tour of New York City, which included Grand Central Station, the Rockefeller center, the Chrysler building, Radio City, and ended at the Metropolitan museum. The guide made sure we all understood why the places were important, which was really nice. We went into the Met and saw amazing exhibits ranging from Chinese dresses, modern art, an entire Egyptian tomb, and strange instruments. My favorite exhibit was about weapons from the early 1500's to 1600's. After the Met we went to Time's Square for pictures, souvenirs, and dinner. It was a little overwhelming; with something new in every direction you looked. A favorite stop for people was Bubba Gump's shrimp. There were people handing out fliers to end "genocide being caused by Americans deporting illegal immigrants" and people dressed in costumes charging a couple of dollars to take a picture with them. After Time's square we went to a Broadway production. This was the first time I had ever been to a Broadway musical and probably won't be the last. I really hope to come to New York City again.
