No wonder I didn't know where I was yesterday.
We were supposed to do Pompeii yesterday!
Really threw me.
Apparently Calvin changed the plans but I missed the update.
Anyway, very tired last night . Finally finished dinner at 9.30pm. It was in the hotel dining room and beautiful. The hotel was a wonderful old place... Imagine Miss Marple sitting in the Lobby and you have it. Hotelstabia... Castellammare di Stabia
On the 7th Floor was the bar and access to Wifi ( they are not silly ) and the most beautiful view of the water, the night lights and a magnificent lightning display in the sky as a thunderstorm raged over Rome.
And, to our right Mt Vesuvius .
How cool is that?
So bed or watch the storm... You can guess.
Most of us were up there... Just wonderful.

Then at Pompeii by opening time of 8.30am. Second group in.
I was able to get some magnificent photos because we were so early. Beautiful day as well.
Pompeii surprised me. I didn't expect it to have height. There were huge columns and very tall buildings as well as the smaller places.
Absolutely loved it!
Just fascinating
Saw the bakeries, the forum, the brothel, the drinking fountains, the toilets, the plaster casts of the people who died there.
I didn't realise that the skeletons remained inside the void after the bodies had perished... So each plaster cast has a skeleton inside.
Just amazing place... Loved it.

Ok driving to Bari now to catch the overnight ship to Greece and Athens.
