Well, Greece has succeeded where none other have been successful.
I couldn't finish my ice cream dessert.
Yep.
Absolutely stonkered me.
I have missed a day of the blog...
Had a great time on the boat... Great night sleep...apparently I slept through 2 announcements....coming straight through the speakers into each and every stateroom...announcing VERY LOUDLY....that some passengers should be ready to disembark...( not us ).... and my tour mates were VERY jealous that I blissfully slept through it all.
( M&M poisoning will do that to you.)
And just in case any of you think that is code for something else....no, I hadn't been drinking.
This was my first time ever on a big boat....and if I was going to be seasick, I planned to have all my wits about me.
Didn't get seasick at all...just blissfully slept the night away....very smooth water though.
Greece kept getting larger and larger on the horizon ...and we docked about noon.
Greece is hot!
We dragged our cases off the boat, loaded into a different bus....where the aircon was not quite up to scratch....but ok...
Onwards to Athens.
We stopped at a marvellous place called the Corinth Canal.
Just takes your breath away... I walked out over this canal and thought the earth had dropped from beneath my feet.
Now...I may have photos of this...but, at the moment, I can't get any more photos from my camera to load onto the IPad because the IPad is full.
Now, I rang Brooke ( Hi! ) so I could speak to Lewis ( Hi! ) and he has clued me in on what to do.
( Didn't ring you Hannah because I was trying to spread the tech questions around.
thought of you though! )
Just haven't done it yet....went on another tour this afternoon so have't had time to get organised.
Besides....it's a lot like cooking....much better when someone else does it.
Anyway...check out this Corinth Canal on Safari (Google) .....just incredible
Then on to the wonderful Novotel Athens.
This did not disappoint.
Just wonderful.
And jumped straight in the pool...several times!
And the view over Athens is AMAZING.
And the view of the Acropolis ..... Has to be seen to be believed.
Everyone could not believe it.... Apparently I was the only one who really looked up the hotels on the tour so this one took people by surprise.
Anyway, much swimming....then out to dinner at a Greek restaurant ...on the side of a hill in town so tables out on steps and terraces all the way up to the restaurant...people everywhere...
Bougainvilleas everywhere , fairy light, candle light...magnificent ...and funny...
Should have seen us all doing 'Zorba the Greek'.
Then back to the rooftop of the Novotel for drinks at the bar... The stayers were there till it closed at 1am....( Me. Me. Me )
Great to talk to you, Mum and Dad.....had to ring you from this place. It is just beautiful.
Get on Safari and look up Novotel, Athens...go to Images and look for the one of the rooftop at night with the Acropolis lit up in the background.
I will try to add the photo on here....
See that table right against the glass....with the men sitting dining.
That's where I had dinner tonight.
And where I am having dinner tomorrow night
And Sunday night.
I keep pinching myself.
Ok....today...best breakfast of any of the hotels so far...so that's a bonus as well.
I waved goodbye to a bus load of people that I didn't know 3 weeks ago...
Then I went for a swim.
And another.
Did some shopping.
Went on a tour to Poseidon's Temple for the afternoon....
That was really great.
Then back here about 7.30.... Just in time to watch the sun go down and have dinner.
I love it.
Xxx
Oh...forgot....I couldn't finish the ice cream....
I cannot believe that there was so much ice cream that I couldn't eat it all.
I'll have another try tomorrow night.
