Hang on a minute.
I forget what the story was so far.
Oh yes.
So while Emily is out getting her hair cut and I am trying to tell my feet that, yes, we can do it all again... Inspiration struck.
They have taxis in Paris.
Wow. Now THAT'S a great idea.
So as Emily walks through the door with all the picnic food and a great haircut, I just casually mention that I think we'll take a taxi to the Champ de Mars tonight.
She thought it was inspirational as well.
( I think I saw tears in her eyes.)
We have been setting a cracking pace and just about everything hurts so why should the wallet miss out I thought.
Shower and we are off.
After cleverly disguising Merlot in a small water bottle and a whiskey and coke mix in another small water bottle.
We aren't obvious at all.
( Actually, Emily wants to take absolutely no credit for my clever deception.
She just rolled her eyes at me.)
Not deterred .... Onward and upward.
No alcohol permitted in the park, I kept telling her until she finally capitulated and told me I was very clever.
There.
So we taxi to the park.
And there are hundreds of people spread out in this massive grassed area, looking directly down towards the magnificent Eiffel Tower.
Lots and lots of family groups, young ones, all different nationalities.
All drinking.
From beer bottles.
Wine bottles
Champagne glasses.
No one seemed to be drinking from strangely coloured small water bottles.
AND THEN, the gypsies had swapped the small Eiffel Tower souvenirs that they sell during the day for buckets and buckets of....
Beer
Wine
Spirits.
Must be an amnesty for watching the Eiffel Tower lights, I told Emily.
She quickly agreed with me.
We spread out the large T-Towel borrowed from our hotel.
And Emily proceeded to lay out a spread fit for illuminations watching.
Baguette
Cheeses.
Cold meats.
Biscuits.
An absolute feast.
The park just looked magnificent full of people.
And we arrived about 8.20pm ... Just on sunset.
The sky behind the Eiffel Tower was magnificent in the twilight.
And then, they illuminated the Tower.
We had so much fun, eating drinking and taking photos.
Then, bang on 9pm the Tower lit up and sparkled magnificently.
The crowd cheered.
It was great.
It was also a full moon over Paris... Looked spectacular.
Lots of photos later and we sat and just enjoyed the atmosphere.
About 10pm, we caught a taxi home....
Straight to our table at Cafe O Jules for a nightcap.
We had a great night.
Then I sat and tried to catch up on the blog.
Mum, one of the photos is a video.
I think it will have a triangle thing in the middle of the picture.
If you push on this, it should play the video.
Love to everyone
Xxx
PS We are definitely not sitting on white towels borrowed from the hotel.
