Our last night "on the road" for now
Shannon National Park, Western Australia
After a relatively quiet night we were surprised to see lots of work trucks parked in the parking bay in front of us, it was Sunday after all so couldn't understand why there were so many about, but for them smoko time at 8.15am!!!!
This country is all so familiar, tall trees, love it and of course lots of rivers and creeks, everything is so green. It wasn't the warmest of days only 24 degrees and drizzly but fine for travelling.
We put in a really big day only stopping to get some fuel, have a bite to eat and let Kimbo stretch his legs and once more to clean the windscreen which was covered in bugs. I forgot trees = bugs!
We really wanted to get to Manjimup but it wasn't going to happen so although we had a dinner date it had to be put off until tomorrow night. Shannon National Park was where we pulled stumps.
We both love this beautiful National Park and it felt a bit like coming home. The camping
area has changed a lot since we were here last, given it has been over
10 years I guess that would explain it. Another toilet/shower block built and the trees seemed
lower.....not possible I know but sadly trees are now not the friends
they used to be. However with some clever manouvering Kimbo had us
parked up and settled by about 5.00pm and the fire was cranked up ready
for cooking dinner before it got too dark. I remember with sadness the friendliness of the flies....nothing changed there. We were delighted to sit down to our fabulous jaffles and sip a quiet little drink, sadly for me mine was spilt all over my chair, thankfully there was another in the fridge! The excitement was too much and we were tucked by about 8.30pm. Well it was dark anyway.............ahh the serenity!

Mary-Ann Love it. I can get to travel around WA while sitting at my computer!
busmartins Thanks MA you're the first to comment, so that's a first to be proud of and no-one can take that away from you. I hope I haven't bitten off more than I can chew. Especially getting all the old stuff up to speed. Oh well it'll happen when it happens xx
Gail O I also love this idea and cannot wait to read more of your exciting adventures
Simba Boswell Love reading about your travels.
geoff Martin Oh, envy, envy, envy. Lovely part of Australia. you going to climb the Diamond Tree Fire Lookout at Manjimup.?
busmartins The short answer Geoff is NO. Both of us don't like heights (to put it mildly)...each time we've been down this way we've thought about it........for about 5 seconds and always said........... NO!!!!!!!!!!! It most certainly is a lovely part of Australia.
Deidre Baird Looking forward to more travel stories, Di. Armchair travel is very comfy!
Janet McM Bloody beautiful idea Walter. You have a deft touch with painting a word picture and I like your witty comments. Way to go! X
ash-wendyfrank Ahhh keep 'em coming, love to compare notes about this sensational lifestyle. Travelpod makes it even better to keep those memories clear and fun for everyone to read. Love your 'home on wheels' how high is it?
Betty M have done all that, but not on such a grand scale, but those days are over for me...lovely memories...so look forward to hearing more from you Di....go for it
busmartins Wendy we think the bus height is 4.3metres. Our old one was 3.4metres, so that extra metre makes all the difference when it comes to trees, canopies etc. We most certainly enjoy a sensational lifestyle! ;-)
Michelle Oh goody, I don't have to borrow a book from the library now Di, I can just read your adventures. Thanks Love.
busmartins Oh Michelle I love the way you see the world, but don't hand your library card in any time soon! xx
Doug Beatty Hey you two! Nice to hear from you. Great travel machine! I am still alive and kicking. I haven't been travelling much the past year but I hope to go on another train trip in January. Keep well and happy. Doug
Liz Fitzgibbons Great work Di, nice to be with you along the way..........more pls!
busmartins Hey Doug great to hear from you too. Let us know what trip you intend taking and keep us in the loop. Keep warm, well and happy too! ;-)
