Today we head toward Gallipoli National Park and we will have the unique privilege of sharing in devotions at the memorial there.

I am very excited about this! My (Peter) grandfather was a soldier here and in Europe.

Gallipoli is a sacred place for all Australians, a place where our national identity was forged in the hardship and mateship of war.

I have never glorified war, in fact I hate it, but I do admire the courage and determination of our fighting men and women and seek to put this same spirit into practice in my own life on a daily basis.

I thank God every day for men like my grandfather who face untold hardships and fears, but who still did what needed to be done, even if it meant death.
