We departed our five star motel and headed toward the town of Alexandrian Troas where we stopped at the site of the old Troas where Paul departed for Kavala, the old Neopolis in Macadonia.

This site has really only just begun to be excavated and I think one of the most interesting. I found myself trying to unravel a puzzle as we looked at the partial excavation, but with the help of our guide I begun to understand where things were and what we were looking at. There is one picture in the album of a pillar which has been excavated on one side only to reveal the depth of the build up of soil over all the years.

This site was really spectacular although hardly any work has begun.

We left here to drive to Bergama to the church of Pergamum.
