We've had a free day today, to just potter around the city, take in the sights or just laze about doing nothing.
We chose to take a long walk to the Acropolis (a high point) and explore it and the surroundings. It was an arduous walk up very steep narrow streets but the view was well worth the effort. We climbed the main tower and had a 360 degree view of the town and it's magnificent harbor.
On the walk to the top we stopped off at the mosaic of Paul depicting his vision of the man from Macedonia calling for him to come and help. Again we were forced to stop and realize that 2,000 years ago the Apostle Paul journeyed through this place preaching the gospel as he went.
It is an awesome experience to be following in his steps.
We checked out many of the local shops and have been impressed at the low prices, water in 600 ml bottles 50 cents! Clothing, shorts/shirts as low as 5€ ( 5 Euros).
We grabbed a bite to eat on the way back to the motel, where we relaxed and Peter took a nap.
Tomorrow we head to Philippi and Alexandropolis where we stay at our motel, again on the beach.
